A New Brain (2004)

I produced segments of video to complement various songs in the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club's 2004 production of William Finn's musical A New Brain. The video was projected onto a large screen above and to the right of the stage.  While I produced other video for the show, including some medical readouts, these are the most cohesive and interesting standalone pieces of multimedia. The Audio used to synchronize these segments to the music is ©1998 RCA Victor from the Original Cast Recording of A New Brain.

"The Yes Song" (1:45)

"The Yes Song" is a segment of Mr. Bungee's Lillypad, a fictional Barney-esque TV show mentioned in the musical.

Finn's hero, Gordon Schwinn, writes songs for Mr. Bungee while he awaits his inspiration. The idea of the song is that "Yes is a good word" that enables heights of enjoyment. The long segment in the middle where Mr. Bungee, played by Bobby Hodgson, is pointing down and to the left, he is gesturing to where the actors (Including Mr. Bungee) are engaged in a big dance number. Special thanks to Warren Tusk for his appearance in the video.

"Sitting Becalmed In the Lee of Cuttyhunk" (2:38)

The video for "Sitting Becalmed In the Lee of Cuttyhunk" is the fantasy going on in Gordon Schwinn's mind while he is undergoing an MRI procedure.

During the song, Gordon Schwinn, played by Christopher Moffo (who looks like me in this video*)  was actually singing from an MRI machine onstage. This was filmed to appear as a live feed from inside the machine on stage mixed with fantastic images based on the theme of sailing, the beloved pasttime of Schwinn's lover, Roger.

*No, really, I'm not being funny here. That is really Christopher Moffo, and for some reason, he came out looking like me in this video.
