Silent film is fascinating, and difficult. The art of film changed radically with the introduction of sound. In some ways, it was like starting over altogether, as the art of film had been centered on expression without sound. This explains why early talkies were, by and large, less artistically mature than the silent films of the same period. Despite initial frustration, I enjoyed the shift of gears required to compose in this medium.
